So how did you stumble upon a crafting station during your travels in Tamriel? And of course, very happy, you decided to take a closer look, just to get an idea of these famous sets that can only be made at these stations. And there, patatras, no manufacturing available. Fortunately, Games Managers are here to take that frustration out of you and replace it with a new one. Explanations.
What are the prerequisites for making a set?
Yes, there are some prerequisites before you can craft a set. There are not many of them, but they will ask for your patience.
First of all, know that the sets are more or less powerful and will therefore require an investment in variable time before they can be manufactured. As you might imagine, it will first and foremost be a question of finding traits through the trades of forge, sewing and woodworking. Low level sets require knowledge of two lines on an item before being unlocked, while the most advanced sets will require it up to 8.
Of course, these are traits to know per piece of equipment. So if you have researched 2 traits on the seam belts, you will be able to craft the belt from the set at the appropriate station. If you want to make the boots, you will also need to look for two lines on the boots. Let's not forget of course that leather boots are not the same as fabric boots, so you might as well say that all of this will take time.
There are no other prerequisites other than finding the various crafting stations, and completing the main quest long enough to access it.
A little math
Let's dive into this system a bit to see what it represents in playing time. Let's start with a recap of the times needed for research:
- first line : 6 hours
- second line : 12 hours
- third line : 1 day
- fourth line : 2 days
- fifth line : 4 days
- sixth line : 8 days
- seventh stroke : 16 days
- eighth line : 32 days
For a first set of 3 items, requiring only 2 wanted traits per item, things will go relatively quickly. The first stroke sought on an object takes 6 hours of time, then this time doubles for each subsequent stroke on the same object. Fortunately, if you are looking for a first line on gloves, for example, the time will not be doubled if you are looking for a first line on boots.
Our first set will therefore require 6 + 12 = 18 hours of research per object. Multiply this time by three to be able to make the whole set, and you still arrive at 54h, or more than 2 days.
Consider now an advanced set, of 5 pieces, requiring 8 traits. If we add the above times, we arrive at a total of 63 days and 18 hours, PER object. So for the full set, we come up with the astronomical total of 318 days and 18 hours !
It is possible to divide this time if you invest points in the crafting skills. Thus, you can conduct up to 3 simultaneous searches in a trade and also reduce the search time by up to 20%. If you invest these points, the time to craft the set will be reduced to 102 days, which remains considerable. So be patient and make your search locations profitable now.
How many sets can you wear simultaneously?
It's a good question. You have 8 or 9 slots for set items, depending on whether you are carrying one-handed or two-handed weapons. Because yes, the weapons are also concerned by the sets.
- With 1-handed weapons, so you can wear 3 sets of 3 pieces or 1 set of 5 pieces and 1 set of 3 pieces.
- With a 2-handed weapon, so you can wear 2 sets of 3 pieces or 1 set of 5 pieces and 1 set of 3 pieces.
