The developers at Psilocybe Games were inspired by a pretty amazing video of a pig desperately trying to escape from a truck taking him to the butcher's shop in South America. As they watched these poor animals fight for their lives, they decided to support them in their own way. Pigsodus was born.
In this game, which is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, we play a pig named Horace Oinkstein. He lives peacefully on a farm, spending most of his time helping other animals and playing with his friends, most notably Eggdar the Chicken. Until the day he finds out that farmer Theodor is killing the animals! Panicked, Horace tries to warn his parents, who do not listen to him, taken before his eyes to the slaughterhouse. Shocked, he is not going to let it go and go in search of revenge against the humans.
Pigsodus is an adventure / action game, offering lots of quests, puzzles, all in a dangerous world with evil critters like wolves. The three strengths mentioned in the press release are:
- Unique story: it's not every day that a game offers to play a pig!
- Challenging puzzles and dynamic mini-games.
- Eight levels with original graphics to explore.
I was able to access a preview demo and walk around the farm with Horace. The graphics are quite nice, in pixel art. We like it or we don't like it, as often, I always have a little trouble. Despite everything, it works quite well and the pig is touching, evolving in various environments.
The game already offers many features worthy of a real role-playing game with a system of dialogues, quests, puzzles with interactive objects.
The animal prefers to hide when it can.
On the other hand, sometimes, he has to fight ... and strangely, he has arguments! Well, yes, the pig is not an ace of the trigger, fortunately, but he defends himself against wild animals by mainly spiel! Damage management is localized on the pig's body via a diagram displayed at the top left.
According to the few GIFs shared with the press kit, there is also some craft ...
... and talent trees.
This demo is just a quick glimpse into the end game which will feature many more amazing adventures for this pig whose life might have ended after this truck trip to the terrifying slaughterhouse.
Will you be the Bacon of Hope?
