We had the opportunity to test TESO under exclusive press access allowing us to publish a preview of the beta up to level 15. The NDA remains in place, except for authorized sites.
Enchanting in TESO allows you to craft glyphs which are ornaments that can be applied to weapons, jewelry and armor (via right-clicking in the inventory and choosing "Enchant", unless the description of an item spawns a small padlock above its current enchantment, in which case it is not re-enchantable).
The resources used for the enchantment are the runes. Enchanters do not have pre-set recipes. Instead, they should practice using the runes they find to understand their meaning.
What are Runes?
You will first need to collect runes. They are usually found in the wild, near a wall, tree, rock, or cliff. Spawn points are fixed but the rune that can be found there varies. Runes can also be in heavy bags that can be found in houses, dungeons, boats ... These bags disappear during pickup, like a pickup point.
You can also extract runes by breaking glyphs if you have found any during your adventures (or those you have crafted). To do this, on the change bench, press "E" and choose the second icon at the top right "Extraction". Double-click on the object you want to deconstruct (destroy) to select it then press R to validate the transformation.
You will see a message informing you which runes you have obtained at the top right of the screen. The competence "Extraction d'aspect"grants you more aspect runes when mining.
There are three types of rune: Power, Gasoline and Aspect.
- Power Runes:
- They are shaped like square.
- In nature, they shine in bleu
- The power rune defines the action (increase, decrease, ...) and the level (insignificant corresponds to levels 1-15, ...) of the glyph
- You will need to take skill points in "Power Improvement"to use higher level runes.
- Runes d'Essence :
- They are shaped triangular
- In nature, they shine in Jaune
- The essence rune defines the field of action (magic, armor, health, cold, hot, poison, ...) of the glyph
- Essence runes are very common and do not require a skill point to be used.
- Runes d'Aspect :
- They are shaped round
- In nature, they shine in Orange-red
- The essence rune defines the quality (normal, refined, superior, epic, legendary) of the glyph
- You will need to take skill points in "Appearance improvement"to use higher level runes.
Create a Glyph
After collecting your runes, you will be able to craft a glyph. To do this, go to an enchantment workbench and press E. A window will appear, which shows you the runes you have. in your inventory OR your bank personal. You can sort by rune type by choosing the appropriate tabs at the top of the window.
Select one rune of each type by double-clicking on one of them until a three-rune phrase appears at the bottom of the screen. Press R to start creation.
The name of the glyph obtained will appear at the top right of your screen and if you are using runes for the first time a window will appear showing you the hidden meaning of each new rune.
This will allow you toextrapolate meaning of glyphs (there is an etymological logic behind the name of the runes) or have an idea of the sentences needed for a glyph given without ever having made it beforehand.
Turn a sentence into a glyph
The runes ofgasoline are the basis of a glyph, this will determine the nature of the glyph (lightning, cold, magic, ...).
The rune of power explains how gasoline should be applied (is "cold" a "cold resistance", or "cold damage") and also determines the level of the glyph. You start with the Jora, Jode, Notade, and Porade runes (which create insignificant level 1-15 glyphs), but if you spend a point on "Power Upgrade" then you will have access to the Jera, Jejora, Ode and Tade that creates level 11-25 glyphs
The aspect rune changes the exceptional of the glyph (normal, refined, superior, epic, legendary) which alters the statistics of the glyph without changing its level.
