On December 15, Warframe's newest expansion will be released, titled "The New War", the longest cinematic quest ever added to Warframe in eight years of service.
Bringing the story to the fore, it takes players through an epic scenario, with the aim of offering a real space opera. To quickly summarize the events, our mission is to defend the Origin system from the threat of the Sentients, led by their terrible leader Erra. Created by the ancient Orokin Empire to terraform the Tau system, the Sentients have returned, ready to take advantage of the chaos in the Origin Sector to make it their own. The originality of the scenario comes from the opportunity to experience the conflict not only with its usual character, its Tenno, but also through the point of view of three playable characters: Kahl-175 (Grineer), Veso (Corpus Tech) and Dax: Teshin (an experienced Dax soldier), each with their own unique abilities and playstyle.
This expansion will be an opportunity to understand the truth behind this conflict, and the past of the Lotus, with perhaps a new future for the Tenno. You don't know the Lotus? Once a loyal companion and mentor to the Tenno, this character is also known as Natah. She revealed her true form and fled with the Orokin Executioner, Ballas. Now these veterans of the old war are at the origin of a new conflict, accompanied by the mysterious Shadow Stalker. The two are determined to go all the way, but where do their allegiances really lie? What is Natah's true nature? How could she hold the key to ending the new war?
It makes you want, doesn't it? And if you're a veteran Warframe player, you're certainly looking forward to it even more than most because you'll finally have answers to questions you might have had since 2015's cinematic quest, The Second Dream. And this extension itself has been teased since 2019.
The expansion will also bring the new Caliban warframe-sentient hybrid which will be purchasable at the release of the expansion for Platinum. Alternatively, you can obtain its pattern by completing the expansion quest and build it, piece by piece. As for the Prime Access program, it will be the turn of Harrow Prime Access. All other recent Warframe game systems will be integrated into the expansion: the Railjack ship, all other Warframes, and Mechs.
In order to prepare for the launch, you need to complete some essential quests:
- Vor’s Prize
- Once Awake
- The Archwing
- Stolen Dreams
- The New Strange
- Nath
- The Second Dream
- The War Within
- Chains of Harrow
- Apostasy Prologue
- The Sacrifice

You will also need to build an Archwing as part of the mission of the same name (an Orokin-designed flight system used to fly and participate in space combat), obtain a Railjack (whether built or purchased, a personal spacecraft , an Orokin-era interceptor with weaponry and defense systems), build a Necramech (an Entrati War Machine usable through Transference, purchasable or buildable in open-world areas), and unlock its Operator ( young humans whose Void powers are the source of the Warframe's abilities, unlocked by completing the second dream).
