Next week, Tuesday March 27, Trove will have a new update called "Heroes". Exclusively, James Karras (Senior Producer) and Ted Sanger (Animator) took me to discover new things, while the construction game is currently shining in Asia, with an open beta in China and a arrival on PS4 in Japan.
This extension begins with the overhaul of the neon city, Luminopolis (in Néonpolis). It will more than ever be true to its name, with more colorful graphics, which means first and foremost more neon lights (always more), but also more life. The difficulty will adapt to the player, with events accessible to all, no matter how advanced, and adjusted rewards.
This expansion marks a new desire by Trion to offer expansions where the story takes a more important place. Don't expect walls of text though, they'll be visual stories where things are explained by the set and the NPCs.
In this area, two factions are opposed for the control of the city. The bad guys, Ampérium, against the good guys, the Resistors. And the new class ofAvant-garde (Vanguardian) is one of those resistant to the white and blue colors of the valiant heroes. This sixteenth class is a slapping machine, to use the very expression of one of the presenters, with his new style of weapon: fists. He alternates between two forms, melee and contact, which gives the player the opportunity to be the hero of their choice.
His passive, which can be picked up from other classes (with the subclass system), is "Hit Mark", a touchdown that inflicts a big sonic explosion when he lands after hovering, that looks really fun, in addition to being effective at stunning nearby enemies when engaging in combat.
A new type of wings, called Aérotunnel (Windtunnel), allows the hero to fly like Superman without any other artifice. The superhero effect can be further accentuated with a costume that even adds onomatopoeia above enemies (Pif! Paf!). The same version exists for the supervillain version for players who prefer the dark side!
This class can be acquired through packs released at the same time as the update, but players who do not want to spend real money can create it in-game. The same is true for the new dragons, one for each faction. They are snake dragons, which have a classic dragon behavior but, if I understood the explanation correctly, they are also the first to be able to be used as racing mounts.
A new type of non-hostile dungeon appears in the area, the Outpost. There will be Kamis (robot / spirit hybrids) who give adventures up to 20 per day, for a maximum of 3 to be carried out simultaneously, in order to help protect the city. Open-world events (indicated to all players logged in via Assault Alerts) await adventurous and group-based Trovians, huge mega bosses (Rampage), available in three types at the moment, which require several dozen players The most effective clubs will be able to create a Hero Lantern to summon one of these bosses into their club world (the single-use item will disappear after summoning).
And all this can be created on the Resistor Workbench, the class, the dragons, the costumes, the Kamis, but also potions to gain 50% more aventurine, or even elements of terraformations or patterns. Some essential elements to these recipes will be found on the mega bosses.
Finally, this extension brings changes to the home screen, which hosted too much information. Its simplified version includes 3D animations to make it even more attractive. And the daily bonuses are revised, with a theme system for each day (with fixed days from one week to the next). Asked about this, the developer informed me that they don't plan to spin the days, which is why the best loots are found on weekends to ensure better balance.
Various other other improvements Less important were only mentioned, such as the clarification of the visual effects to provide a more stable game client performance, or the changes to the Dracolyte class.
See you on Tuesday 27th to discover all this for yourself in the world of Trove!
