Few of the planets where the peace promised by the Treaty of Coruscant has been as illusory as on Balmorra. Fiercely independent, this longtime ally of the Republic dominates the galaxy when it comes to weaponry and droid making. The workers of Balmorra now live under the ruthless yoke of an Imperial occupying force.
Shortly after its colonization, when the Republic was still young, Balmorra was home to some of the largest weapons and battle droid makers in the known galaxy. This terrible military might, combined with the planet's strategic position, close to the Core Worlds, has made Balmorra a world constantly at war. Coveting the weapons made on the planet, the Sith Empire decided to annex Balmorra. In return, the Galactic Republic sent soldiers there to help the Balmoreans defend their independence.
As the confrontation continued to spread, the tried-and-tested Republic ended up no longer being able to provide this military support. Its troops were thus gradually recalled and then redeployed elsewhere in the galaxy, until the Treaty of Coruscant came to put a definitive end to the support it provided to the Balmorreans. A reduced Republic force remained in secret on the planet to aid the resistance, but the Balmoreans knew full well they had been abandoned. Despite everything, the Empire failed to take full control of the planet.
Today, years after the signing of the treaty, the Republic, rebuilt and reunified, is testing the limits of the fragile peace concluded with the Empire by sending back to the planet the troops it had been forced to withdraw in the past. Although they accept the help of the Republic, the Balmoreans still have a bitter feeling that they were once abandoned. For its part, the Empire is increasing its presence on the planet, determined to seize the weapons of Balmorra and end the conflict once and for all.
