Arrived in its box with a slight icy relief inspiring luxury and elegance, the SYN Air Buds are delivered with their storage and charging box, a 50 cm USB-C cable, the tactile earphones, instructions and 3 silicone tips, the means of which are already installed on the headphones.
Bad luck, I have a narrow ear canal, so I have to change for the little ones. Removing the end caps is a bit tedious as they are securely attached. Putting on the new ones properly can be too, but once you get the hang of it, it's easy to perform the maneuver and the little ones are perfect for my ears.
Too bad that the storage provided by the box did not anticipate a location in its mold for the medium tips which thus do not fit entirely in the newly freed space.
Then head to the Playstore to download the dedicated application which will be used to manage, configure and adjust the headphones (Equalizer, charge levels, updates, reminder of touch features).
Flat concerning the latter: it requires in addition to Bluetooth (normal for Bluetooth headphones), to know your position to be used. Uuuuh... what?
Not to mention the extra phone battery drain this causes, I see no good reason why the software needs to know my location to change sound profiles.
Still happy that using the headphones does not require using this feature!
Pairing is very easy after a long press on the touch zone of each headset and you are finally ready!
First observation, the SYN Buds weigh nothing. A little too much for my taste because you very quickly forget that you are wearing them, despite the fact that they are in-ear headphones. As a result, we find ourselves in sometimes funny situations, like trying to put my previous wired intras when I already have the SYN Buds Air installed, or wanting to scratch my ear to find myself stopping the music by touching the touch area of the earpiece.
In short, they are very discreet to wear.
Let's focus instead on one of the important points of this type of accessory: the audio quality.
Without being exceptional with endless options like Dolby or spatial sound reproduction, the SYN Buds Air offer the essentials with 4 listening profiles, including one dedicated for gaming.
The sound, either for listening to music or for watching videos on your smartphone, is clear and without any real clash apart from accidental brushing on the touch areas which serve as a very basic remote control: 1 tap on one of the earpieces to put play or pause, two to go to the next title and three for the previous one. Finally, a long key allows you to call the assistant of your smartphone. Nothing revolutionary then, although I would have personally appreciated a tactile volume control system by playing on the fact that the two earpieces are tactile rather than having to take out my phone and do it directly on it.
Not dramatic, but for someone who very often changes the volume according to the song, the interlocutor on the phone, the environment in which he is, it is something that makes me miss my wired headphones which have this possibility.
Moreover, speaking of interlocutor, the headphones are each equipped with a microphone to communicate with the assistant of his telephone, to record audio memos, but also and above all to be able to make and receive calls. Communication is clear.
Once the use is finished, simply put the earphones back in their case to recharge them. This charge is fast and offers about 5 hours of battery life on each charge for a total of about twenty hours until the case is fully discharged.
Finally that is theory since it is difficult to verify for very hatched use such as in the bus, metro or on the street, thus making the charging rates much more numerous, but roughly speaking these figures hold.
The only thing to worry about when it comes to charging is the case's charge gauge indicated by 3 LEDs when the case is open: 3 on, the case is fully charged, 2 it's about halfway charged autonomy and 1 means that it might be necessary to think of recharging it.
It's also worth noting that the earbuds have been granted an IPX4 waterproof standard, meaning you can use them in the rain without fear of splashing water breaking them.
Not having really had the right to a torrential climate during their use, I can't really say if they resist well. And yes, Brittany has plenty of days without rain! Very even! Just had right on the duration of test, with a fine timid rain which lasted 5 minutes. So you will have to come back to test their resistance in heavy showers.
Overall, we are therefore dealing with a very good set of Bluetooth headphones which could well become your ideal partner on the go.
