On June 22, the zoo simulation game Planet Zoo got a new pack, taking it to Africa!
Habitat animals
There are four of them in this pack:
meerkat
This very sociable little animal lives in underground networks, savannahs and semi-desert areas of southern Africa. It potentially enjoys living with the Aardvark, a medium-sized insectivore (providing a cross-species optimization bonus). The meerkat is easy to raise, you just have to set up a sufficiently large space for it, with adequate soil and, before you can say phew, there are already babies!
Fennec
Very similar to a fox, the fennec lives in the Sahara desert. Very recognizable by its sandy color, it is small (it is the smallest species of canine), and has huge ears that help it stay at the right temperature in the African plains. It is also not a very complicated animal, it needs about the same space as the meerkat (182 m² per individual), and does not know how to climb, so the barriers do not need to be too high .
southern white rhinoceros
This large ungulate lives in southern Africa. Due to its size, it needs a large space, at least 1275 m² per individual. And its strength makes it necessary to install fences at least level 4, otherwise the zoo risks finding itself invaded by disgruntled rhinos. The advantage is that it thrives in the company of many other African animals, making it possible to recreate a vast savannah with, for example, buffaloes, gazelles, giraffes, wildebeests or zebras.
African penguin
This flightless bird lives on the coasts and islands of South Africa and Namibia. It does not require a large space, returning to the values of the first two animals (180 m²), but it needs at least 135 m² of water with a minimum of depth so that it can swim. This therefore obliges him to create his very specific space where he can frolic. This animal has been added with a new playful optimization object, a toy called the disco ball, which the penguin really likes!
Animal from the nursery
Only one animal in this category, the sacred beetle. What about him? It's so tiny that it's hard to actually see the pattern. Anyway, it occupies a vivarium space, and seems to interest visitors. So what more could you ask for?
Timed scenario and setting
More than 180 new decor elements have been added, all inspired by the architecture of North Africa with dried clay bricks, mosaic tiles, brightly painted benches and a wide range of new foliage, including tall green palm trees. The new timed zoo, Bazaar of El Darar, is a perfect opportunity to experience its elements, already staged.
To succeed in obtaining the stars of this zoo (on easy difficulty), you will need:
- have annual profits of $2 with souvenir shops
- have annual profits of $5 with beverage stands
- have at least 9 species of habitat, of which the general parameter of the enclosures is at least 85%
- have at least 4 different vivarium species in the zoo
- have at least 1 visitors in the zoo.
It will be necessary to achieve all these objectives in 1h20 to obtain the gold. 1h30 will reward you money. While bronze will be the medal offered to any player, without time constraints.
Conclusion
A nice new addition to Planet Zoo's already rich content. Of course, there were already foxes, rhinos and penguins. But building blocks in an African style, and especially cute meerkats are inimitable. I also admit that I find the fennec much cuter than all the other canines, it is worth the detour!
