Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice – Pi power seduction! [-16]

After a first part adapted on Nintendo Switch, of which I gave you an overview some time ago, here is the continuation of the adventures of our irresistible Larry who returns to turn the heads of all the women he crosses his path. Welcome to the discovery of the islands on Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice, prepare the weird cocktails, it's time!

Graphics & atmosphere

As for the first part, we find this drawing side with very particular animations which render well in the context and allow to exaggerate many things like the clichés or the strange frescoes that you will come across. You will spend most of your time on tropical islands with colorful colors, with rather singular characters, and others who come to wink like this dear Dora, a rich and famous explorer, who will cross paths with Larry ... or even as a famous enemy known to secret agents, Doctor Nono.

The soundtrack is also quite close to what one would expect from the series, with menu sounds identical to the first part, and in the zones... it remains in the vein of what we knows. Nothing new, and yet it works well, as the title will offer us a sexual atmosphere at all times, between bizarre statues, phallic references, erotic objects galore, and "instacrap" scenes that show our hero in action without revealing the attributes of each.

History

Direct continuation of the first part, you flee an arranged marriage to find your true obsessive love: Faith. With vague information and a lot of imagination, you end up on an archipelago which shelters a luxury hotel, the starting point of your quest. That's counting without New Lost Wages, Prune's company, now run by Mr. Wang, a colorful villain who hires Yanmei, a deadly dangerous spy to find Faith and her revolutionary AI Algorithm. Who will find her first? And over whose body to pass to find her?

My opinion: This second part is less "taking" in its construction than the first, but seeing several characters from this first is really a little extra. And a little more... more for this dear Nari, who will never make me see unicorns in the same way again (CF the scene above from the first part). But more seriously, Pi has become a much more central element than in the first installment and, as a result, also gives it a much more endearing side. More than a help, the friend she will be for Larry is really something touching and relaxing in this colorful world.

Gameplay

Just like the first part, you will have to recover objects in this point & click world in order to solve the many situations and puzzles that are imposed on you. But, just like in the first part, some solutions are extremely vicious and twisted and may make you heat up the noggin in order to find the interactions between objects and elements of the decor which ordinarily would never have anything to do with each other. However, some small problems that will surely be corrected bother the player such as missing or erroneous texts...

However, you will have new features such as blueprints, which will require many objects (with descriptive help for each) to achieve specific objectives. You will have four of them, ranging from a cocktail to a nuclear engine to a raft. This is in addition to the ability to navigate, and die from the mighty jaws of a shark, to get from island to island or to precise coordinates.

And sometimes the puzzles will take the form of a maze that will require you to concentrate very hard not to lose control, or the form of an endless day where the only way out is to figure out how get to your goal without getting caught. But the strangest passage is the control of a helicopter where you will have to manage the altitude in spurts like some mobile games in order to avoid obstacles. Not necessarily the best of things, but it remains coherent in the idea...

Summary

Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice on Nintendo Switch is for players who loved the first installment, since it's a direct sequel. It's certainly not a perfect game, it might even make you want to insult it in German... but the story and the puzzles are interesting, as are the characters. However, the short lifespan (about ten hours max, not struggling too much) of the software may ask players who want to make their playing time profitable to wait for the sales, but for those who care, I strongly recommend it as long as, I repeat, you loved the first opus.
