From cookie clicker, a pharaonic quantity of games of the same ilk came out. A small detour on Steam confirms this trend, with no less than 115 titles bearing the tag "Incremental with clicks" (yes, it sells less of the dream in French!). Initially present on PC, before being available mainly on mobile, idle-games have captivated many curious people, myself included, but, after a few hours of games spread over a week in general, I give up and move on to something else. However, I sometimes like to set my sights on this category of games, and this time it's Lazy Sweet Tycoon which caught my attention.
The French localization of the game is approximate... But the understanding remains easy
In LST, we play as a CEO eager to break through with his candy-selling business. We are therefore going to start the adventure with a very small factory, which will have to improve its production capacities by adding and improving our various industrial devices, and by motivating our small employees to produce more and more. In addition to passive production via the production chain, we can, as often, click like hell on the playing surface to increase the production rate. This will cause fluorescent mushrooms to grow on the map over which we can pass our cursor to collect points and coins.
Sideless Cube Studios, however, thought of saving our index by introducing a sugar gauge. If the latter is exhausted, the rate of production will resume a standard level and it will be necessary to wait a few minutes before being able to redo some efforts. However, nothing will prevent us from consuming the sugar gauge along the way, even if it is not fully charged, but the effect will therefore be reduced.
A good idle-game knows how to drop rewards endlessly
To keep the player attentive, the developers have however taken care to have small objectives (a plane that crosses the area, small golden rams...) here and there on the ground, on which you will have to click to earn points rankings, and a little extra sorrel. A few quests will also punctuate the action. If you motivate 53 employees, or if you click on 15 golden cookies, your accountant will come to visit you to give you some bonus bundles. As always, action remains the best reward driver in this style of play.
Once you have raised enough money and your passive income is comfortable, you can move on to the next level, which is to evolve your recipes to earn even more money. The pattern repeats itself over and over again. Nothing very original again, but we know what we're getting into when we launch incremental games like Lazy Sweet Tycoon.
You will be able to follow your daily ranking via the dedicated tab
One of the attractions of the game also comes from its Crossplay. You can leave your game on the PC and resume it as it is on your smartphone via Sideless ID, thanks to a backup stored in the cloud. Good or bad thing, I let you be the judge... Personally, it kept me glued to the game almost all day! For more competition, the studio has set up leaderboards that allow you to see where our company stands among all the players. There is a seasonal ranking, which seems to be refreshed every month, and a "live" ranking that resets every day, allowing you to see if you have been productive (in-game at least...) or not during the sessions of game.
Difficult to give an opinion on an idle-game in the end. From a personal point of view, I think I'll have fun for a few more days on it, then move on. For those who like the concept, Lazy Sweet Tycoon seems to be a title that will fill your breaks or other activities that do not require great concentration. It's colorful, pretty comprehensive, and collecting candies to customize your play space should keep you going for many hours (or have you whipping out the wallet for a horror-themed skin...) .
