Nowadays, when we see reality TV shows that are a hit, we can say to ourselves: how far will we go? . When video games merge the subject with a strange and dystopian future, we get Homicidal All-Stars, a dark and violent game. Does the game stop there, or do we have a nugget here? answer a bit further down for this version"preview"which I think will undergo some changes between now and its release.
History
You play as Scarlett who competes in an ultra-violent reality game where challengers fight criminals. Only the strongest survive against ever more numerous and hardened criminals. His goal is to kill Odysseus, the top floor defender who killed his family. Sacred motivation to hold on and become ever stronger, but you will not be alone in taking up the challenge. First you'll be aided by Marty, a former champion who made bad choices...then by other Challengers and eventually a robot Guardian who has mind-blowing firepower. But how far can you go? knowing that the producer and chef will put a spoke in your way to complicate your life as much as possible.
This game shows us a society where people laugh at murders and rejoice in each massacre. This is so rooted in everyday life that sometimes inhabited areas have been used to be the scene of these macabre games, despite the collateral damage. But by discussing or listening to the employees, it is easy to understand that nothing is going right and that only money and violence are the law. Here we have a game that hides a rather interesting, dark and deep story, which quite clearly justifies a Scarlett who has nothing left to lose and only wants to kill the murderer of her family.
Graphics & atmosphere
At its maximum capacity, the game offers us something dirty and obscure, in the good sense of the word. The sets are well done, the animations too, all in a well-designed environment. Only downside: the many FPS drops that occurred during my game, and a few crashes here and there. This will surely be resolved over the Updates.
In terms of the soundtrack, we have rhythm, fairly well-made comments from the presenter, well-crafted effects as well, it's faultless which goes hand in hand with the atmosphere of the game. Really very immersive and in the your, there's nothing to throw away, and we want more!
Gameplay
The game is turn-based that puts us in command of Scarlett and her teammates in two separate parts. The first: exploration, the second: combat. During the exploration, you will simply have to defuse the explosives so as not to end up in pieces, thwart the traps so as not to end up in a mess, find boxes with objects to equip yourself with and advance by clearing the areas filled with enemies. For the first, it will take a little getting used to to see it all and solve the deadly puzzles which are quite twisted and will sometimes require switching between characters to move forward. But if you take a few hits, you can heal yourself at the various stations lying around, often next to central purchasing centers that give you the opportunity to spend your money on new weapons or consumables to increase your firepower. .
During the fights you will have to use the environment to hide and avoid enemy fire, thus increasing your chances of survival. If at the beginning, it turns out to be simple... with the enemies that are added over time and the new kinds of enemies that will arrive... you will quickly become disillusioned about your chances of survival if you do not pay attention. Between those who summon machine-gunner drones, those who rush at you with blades (long live the implant that makes you immune to blades), those who heal and poison, or even those who block your view... we quickly find ourselves with tough times. However, if we read some information about our characters, we realize that some can counter the most annoying like the Smog (those who hide in the smoke), who cannot hide from Tybalt and his infra-vision. red.
You will have to play with your abilities (which you can unlock with a unique talent tree for each character) which will reverse the most critical situations. For example Tybalt who can take on the appearance of an enemy to cross the lines, while an enemy has the traits of your character and will be beaten by his friends, a real joy for them to beat up one of their own. Or the Guardian who will bombard an area with missiles to devastate everything, friends and enemies alike. But the environment can be a weapon between barrels and whatnot that can be found on the battlefield. You will be able to choose your team according to your needs, but all your members will have XP, a good thing in itself. And, in addition to that, you can have for Scarlett (therefore your team leader) bonuses via Sponsors who will grant you very useful boosts, weapons or consumables. To do this, you will have to rise in fame (thus do the maximum of fights and puzzles) and sign autographs to all the fans and respond to them with the emotion that is requested (for example, there is one who asks for 'have 45 pleasant score, another 15 Trou'duc score etc...) to get the contract. But only one contract per line, choose well!
Summary
Note: The preview is made from a preview version which is not complete and will surely be improved by the full release of the title.
Homicidal All-stars is a game that does not hide its violence and shows us a spectacle that is not so improbable in the end. Between a story that motivates the player, a gameplay that is very nice, and a very immersive atmosphere... here we have a clean game for fans of the genre. On the other hand, do not put in the hands of sensitive souls or impressionable people, this is likely to disturb them. For the others, if you like this style of play... you can find your account there!
