Once again, ArenaNet invited us for a presentation of the future content that will be added to Guild Wars 2. We were therefore able to preview the last chapter closing season 5 of the living world entitled "Punishment".
In previous chapters, we have seen the rise of the Elder Dragons Jormag and Primordius. Despite the efforts of our coalition to stop these two entities, it must be clear that a final fight is inevitable. During our demonstration with the developers, we were able to take part in this fight thanks to a raid of about twenty players. It will be possible to carry out this mission in private or in public with a limitation of 80 players maximum in public and 50 in private.
In this fight, you will be caught in the crossfire where the two dragons will send their minions to control the area and take power over Tyria. Your first mission will be to quickly complete all mini-events to reduce the presence of dragons in the area. As a result, a new phase will be triggered where the champions of the two dragons will enter the game in turn. Ryland, the champion of Jormag, will use many zone spells everywhere to overcome your group while Braham, the champion of Primordius, will focus on the enemies close to him.
After long minutes of combat, the dragons will also help their champions by performing many skills throughout the area that must be avoided or risk being knocked down very quickly. To give you some respite, the developers have had the good idea to add dynamic events in the second phase of the fight that you will have to do quickly or you will be invaded by enemies. If you manage all phases of the fight well, Aurene will also take part in the final assault to help you finally put an end to the threat of the dragons. This success will reward you with a World Boss chest with quite interesting rewards, especially for everything related to Slayer skins.
As usual, ArenaNet has added many achievements related to this episode, as well as many elements related to Dragon Slayers. First of all, an additional mastery has been added as well as dragon-themed skins such as a cape, an infusion that changes your character's eyes and a very specific appearance for a swordfish.
Conclusion
This last chapter marks the end of a more than exciting adventure that will have lasted almost 18 months after the last events related to Kralkatorrik. Even if the last chapters with the addition of the factions had not particularly convinced me in relation to the content they had been able to bring, the latter, on the contrary, really reinforced me on what the studio can offer to players both on the gameplay or storytelling part.
With that, I'm expecting a lot from the new Cantha expansion, which will give us many more hours of play in the universe that the ArenaNet team has been offering us for many years.
