Here is the second episode of living history, the Evil Grasp! Some problems occur at Col Aride, thorny lianas appear from the ground and attack the inhabitants. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to protect them and further explore Scarlet's research and discoveries.

History of the story
The beginning of the story takes place in the Col Aride. The way to move around the area is always the same: you will have to use the Aspect crystals to overcome certain obstacles. Sandstorms are always in the game and it will be necessary to help the Zephyrites to improve the rewards received during the sandstorms. For more information on how Col Aride works, read this paragraph.
The heights of Col Aride
Trouble arrives at Col Aride, thorny lianas attack the inhabitants of the region. We are called to help them but also to find Taimi who had remained in Scarlet's room at the end of the first episode.
Taimi gives us a summary of his findings during the search of the room, then speak with all the companions. It was at this time that the name of Mordremoth, the jungle dragon.
During the discussion, a secret passage opened at the back of the room, go down the stairs and explore the tunnel. There are a few books to read.
Once at the end of it, you will discover a map of Scarlet allowing to reach the cave that the miners of the Arid Pass discovered (remember the pocket of magic found by Toska?). This path goes through the plateaus of Col Aride; a passage that starts from the tunnel leads there. Exit the instance and return to the back of the room, a lost room awaits you!
Then retrace your steps, behind the stairs a new passage has opened, it is the path to the heights of Rocfoulé.
When you see the light of day you will come across some peaceful centaurs, they came to the aid of the zephyrites.
Follow the path of green stars on your map, this will take you through all the new areas.
After crossing the lianas bridge, it is possible that an event blocks the passage. Kill the jungle tendril and continue on your way.
The same can happen at the entrance to the cave: it is protected by asura doors which are closed if the event is in progress. Kill the enemies and destroy the turrets in front of the door to open them.
Here you are in the cave! Take in the view and step into the new instance.
The Inquest took over the place. It's up to you to dislodge them! Taimi will configure the security consoles, this will allow you to use the defense system installed by Scarlet to destroy the Investigation. The first console allows you to send a kind of rather powerful electric fire. Do not worry about the enemies that come at you, your companions will take care of them.
The second console will have you pilot a steam creature. She has two skills, the first one can do great damage all around you and the second knocks enemies back while inflicting vulnerability on them. If your creature ever dies, it is possible to control a new one with the console.

When the third console is activated, the entire security system is functional, the Inquest is defeated.
Now that the place is safe, follow the discussion between the characters. We learn that the cave is a point of convergence of lines of force, but smaller than the one located under the Lion's Arch.
In addition, the asura crossing points would in fact be placed mostly on these lines of force. The asura had realized that some points worked better than others but did not realize that this was due to these lines.
Mordremoth uses the lines of force to send thorny lianas, according to Taimi, they are extensions of the dragon. We can even see certain crossing points more or less affected ... or even downright destroyed.
At Fort Salma and Fort Concordia, the situation is critical. So we'll see what happens there.
Defend the forts
Meet at Fort Concordia, at the crossing point of the same name in Canopy Falls.
Kill the dragon minions who are attacking the fort. Beware of rossers: when they spin around and dash forward, they can deal a lot of damage (leaving a trail of poison behind them).
Once all enemies are defeated, revive the dead and then speak with the watchman in charge of the caravan. Part of the convoy was separated during the attack. We will have to find them. Choose between Rox and Braham the companion who will follow you, the other will go to protect the rest of the caravan.
Pick up Magistrate Lindsay in the cave and accompany her to the Temple of Golden Light. The place is still not safe, eliminate the enemies.
Once this fort is secure, exit the instance and go to Fort Salma in the Kessex Hills.
Here again, the fort came under assault from the servants of Mordremoth. Eliminate them then go look for the survivors outside the walls.
Join Kasmeer and Marjory near the entrance. Wait for them to finish talking then head to the north door. Two paths are possible, either you pass in the middle of the fort, infested with enemies; or you walk along the quieter northern wall. During combat, Kasmeer will regularly plant Time Rifts. They allow you to be under haste almost permanently!
Once on the walls of the north gate, kill the enemies there and take the arrow carts to put an end to the external assaults. Kasmeer and Marjory will defend you during this time.
When they're all dead. A boss arrives. Use the cart to kill the nearest jungle tendril. The others are out of reach. Before dealing with the boss, kill the last spin.
The boss has a shield that makes him invulnerable to all damage. Marjory will spawn Skeleton Minions (one at a time) to remove her when they reach the boss. However, monsters will try to kill them before they can hit the boss. It will therefore be necessary to kill the monsters before and perhaps heal the servants. As soon as the shield has fallen, focus on the boss, the time to hit it is not very long.
Beware of the area around him which inflicts a lot of conditions including confusion. When the shield returns, it all starts again.
Sometimes the bitter will throw lots of projectiles. Kasmeer makes a shield to protect himself from it. You don't really have to go into them, just avoid them. Especially since when we are in the bubble, the monsters attack the skeleton minions.
When he is dead, return to the fort, a tragedy has occurred there ...
Return to the Cave of Sparkling Lights
Now that the threats are over, at least for the time being, return to the shimmering light caves in Arid Pass.
Taimi found Omadd's machine that allowed Scarlet to see Eternal Alchemy. The latter has also modified it a little. Taimi absolutely wants to test it on her ... I'll let you discover the rest!
No fight in this instance but some explanations and a very nice cutscene await us.
