The publisher Raw Fury offered us to test several of its games. On my side, I had under my paws Superfuse, Dome keeper and Mr Sun's Hatbox. And for his part, Kyotenshi had the chance to test American Arcadia. Here, below, the previews of this multitude of games!
Superfuse
In a very cartoon style at first glance, we find the very mature Superfuse, developed by Stitch Heads Entertainment. Presented as a hack'n'slash RPG, it will put you in control of one of four available characters. I was able to test two of them, with very different gameplays, starting with a berserker who tanks like a brute and causes heavy localized and low amplitude damage. I then continued with an elementalist who makes large-scale attacks; very powerful, it is weak in melee.
But the strength of the title comes from the fact that you can modify your moves in an impressive way and according to your style of play via a fairly practical skill grid. One can also increase its power via nodes in the form of DNA. This will allow you to customize your style of play quite drastically, but the level I did did not allow me to explore the game in its smallest details. I just know that you can play it with up to 4 players to make the most of its fun side.
In conclusion, this game seemed to me at first glance to be a classic D-like, but it turns out to be much more and really makes me look forward to trying it out in more detail when it is released in early access on Steam, before its launch. complete in 2023.
Dome Keeper
One of the games that I really liked for its pixel art Rogue Lite aspect developed by Bippinbits, which allows you to keep bonuses from one game to another. You are the owner of a dome that is under attack from many creatures. To defend it, you will have to use the laser that moves from right to left to defeat them. The further you go, the more powerful they will be and will damage your dome until it shatters.
To avoid this misfortune, you can improve your equipment and your character by finding resources that are buried deep under the building. So be reassured: you can improve your jet pack, your laser, and many other things to succeed in doing better and better. And who knows, you may even find technologies that will assist you more and more until you save your precious habitat. But watch out for the bar that tells you when the monsters are coming, if you don't want to be surprised!
In conclusion, with the small part that I was able to do, I discovered an interesting game that will take stressful moments through sessions to establish the perfect balance between harvest and defense. Quite hard to find, and even harder if you want to make the most practical improvements to help you. I enjoyed this game a lot, and I invite you to follow it until its release on September 27, 2022, or to try its demo which will help you get an idea of โโit.
Mr Sun's Hatbox
This game really surprised me with its diverse gameplay and its quite successful pixel art design: a very nice job by Kenny Sun. You control Mr Suns who has had his package stolen, which you will go to recover from the ends of the earth. The levels, which are quite fast, follow one another and allow you to capture people, hats and weapons at the same time to help you in your adventure. You will be able to choose between different hats, which will give you special attributes and skills that you can store.
The management part quickly points its nose by putting you in charge of different rooms that invite you to look for new things or to brainwash certain people who will join your team and send them on a mission. Everyone will have their equipment and their problems. For example, a character will have tendencies to jump everywhere like a spring when he is going to kill an enemy instead of capturing him. Each character will thus experience this kind of dilemma, advantage or disadvantage, which will make each trial quite unique.
Some missions will also give you the opportunity to collect specific hats that you will unlock after a while. These fairly difficult missions will give you a hard time and require more strategy than you might think. All of this will be stored and will be used to equip your characters for each mission as you see fit.
In conclusion, this game which seemed quite strange to me at the beginning turned out to be strangely addictive and really very fun. Quite interesting on many points, it's one of the games I most want to follow. Scheduled for 2023, it may not appeal to everyone, but it should not leave anyone indifferent.
American Arcadia (par Kyoto)
American Arcadia is the new production from Out of the Blue Games studios (already at work on the appreciable Call of the Sea). Going from a team of 13 to 20 people, the studio has revised its ambitions upwards with a game inspired by strong productions such as Firewatch or INSIDE. If the mix of the two may seem surprising to you, don't worry, everything has been thought of. The game takes place via two points of view, one of which emanates from Arcadia (a fantasy town where everything is colorful and which acts as a large-scale reality show). You play as a boring office worker who wakes up one morning to see a lot of changes in his company. We move forward by scrolling horizontally on a level by overcoming certain 2.5D puzzles and listening to the advice of a woman on the radio who helps us to escape.
American Arcadia
This woman, precisely, we also embody her, in subjective view this time. She will have to solve puzzles and other hacks, while hiding from the cameras, to continue helping Trevor. Although the demo is short, we are immediately caught up in the atmosphere of the game and the dialogues that flow between the two protagonists. The dubbing is once again of high quality: it must be said that with actors like Cissy Jones or Yuri Lowenthal, we can only expect a high-flying result.
As it stands, there is no release date, however, so we will have to be violent and wait while we wait to see more and rest our hands on this oh so promising game!
Conclusion
Once again, Raw Fury will have shown us games that are really very diverse and very often interesting. Can they give you a good time? there's a chance! The advantage is that there is something for everyone, as long as you find what you are looking for in the titles on offer. Personally, I have a very clear preference for Dome Keeper.
