All Dead By Daylight players are familiar with Behavior Interactive. However, despite the announcement of project W, for Wesker, the next DLC for DbD... I'm going to introduce you to a completely different game called Meet Your Maker. A Builder/Raider available on Steam currently if you are accepted into the beta program, and soon on PS4/PS5 and Xbox one and Series X when it fully launches in 2023.
Graphics & atmosphere
Graphically accomplished, the exterior decor will quickly give way to many dark and different interior decors for each game. The atmosphere will be conducive to paranoia and mistrust and the soundscape will do nothing to reassure you. And that's precisely what this style of play is all about...as a Raider. For the Builder side, your imagination will just look the way you give it.
History
Humanity being close to extinction, you will collect genetic materials in the towers in order to continue. With your control team, you will have to defend yours.
My opinion: currently, the scenario is only slightly fleshed out, but during my interview with the team who presented the game to me, I had confirmation of a lore which will be fleshed out more and more with descriptions and dialogues between the characters. All in all good...
Gameplay
Having not yet had the title in my hands, I only watched the developers give me a presentation while playing this game, and showing players trying to conquer their tower. Here's what I took away:
Partie Builder
During this part, you can build a tower as you want. Between almost invisible traps, guards, pistons and other such fun things, you will quickly put your imagination to use in order to make as many victims as possible. Of course, the goal being that everyone can access the genetic material, the path must remain accessible and your tour must be as interesting as possible with a good level of challenge. The rewards at the end of each round via honors given by the raiders will grant you points which will be used to increase your prestige. In addition, each dead player will leave you loots on his death sites which will provide you with materials to make an ever grander tower. And we know it... the imagination of players can go very, very far, especially with the possible customizations of guards and traps.
Raider part
During this phase, you will be required to raid a tower following a small robot that will guide you to the genetic material. However... you will be confronted with the harsh reality of the many traps and guards that will stand in your way. Because, after the first phase which consists of going to the genetic material, a second phase which changes the configuration of the tower a little will make the task difficult for you. But rest assured, unlimited lives will help you succeed by learning from your mistakes. Note that one of the worst atrocities remains the guard who ends up exploding while dying. Moreover, important thing... you can even try the adventure for two for more simplicity.
Note also that in addition to being able to customize your equipment, certain restrictions require you to play strategically. Indeed, even if your melee weapons are unlimited, you only have ultra limited ammo, which will force you to go after each projectile you fire, or risk running out.
Summary
This game offers us a pretty good player-based experience for an experience based on the imagination of the community, with a very original concept. With a gameplay that looks really good to me and a team that will follow the game and make regular updates, we can spend many hours of fun on this game. Moreover, having just had access, I will give you a more complete review in the next few days!
