505 Games offers us Gunfire Reborn, a rather interesting FPS, which I was able to test thoroughly for more than half an hour. Not being very good at this kind of game, I wanted to try all the same to do my best and have fun. Is the bet successful? answer below!
Graphics
Quite focused on cartoon-style animation with super cute characters, we end up with an avalanche of colors and effects, each one more dazzling than the other. We take full mirettes because of the avalanche of effects of the different weapons, powers and bosses that will be displayed on the screen, and even more, you will have a pretty good music to accompany all that. Note that the enemies I saw during the presentation were not very, very varied, and it's a shame not to have had more.
Gameplay
The zones are divided into sub-zones that you will have to cross in order to reach the final boss. Simple enough on paper, in theory it's more complicated than that. Each zone has a chest that will only open when all the enemies in the zone are killed, and for that... EXTERMINATION. You will have in each chest a random object sometimes including a weapon, sometimes an object boost, sometimes a skill boost and this will be very useful for you later. Note that the bosses are real brutes and have a fairly simple but devastating pattern at the slightest mistake.
Your skill can be improved with powerful cumulative effects if you manage to obtain the same bonus several times. For example, we can have an orb that does area of effect damage, electrical damage, which chains enemies and other effects such as blinding, etc... As for weapons, it's a bit of the same delirium, with weapons that have totally goofy effects with their appearance.
Note, for example, the kunai that bounces against the walls, the shotgun that shoots worse than a sniper, the red lizard that swings fireballs with a delayed explosion or even the melee weapons as diverse as they are varied. To help us, we also have a merchant who will come and sell us some much needed reinforcements or weapons.
In each path, a rift appears that will take you to the "vault", a special area that is full of enemies and will offer you good rewards if you manage to finish it. It's not very complicated to complete the first levels and you will gradually earn soul essence which has a double use: to resuscitate after your death, or simply to allow you to fill your tree with skills, once your game is over. The Roguelite aspect is therefore important for the future and will allow you to gain power from game to game. Note that the game prides itself on offering games for up to 4 players!
Summary
Gunfire Reborn is already available on Steam, it offers you a supercharged FPS type game with devs who have a pretty crazy imagination and will allow you to let off steam on an avalanche of enemies. You don't have to look for a finesse or a story, there isn't really any, especially when playing with 4 players. If you're looking for a no-brainer game, you can go there... if not, you'll surely find something better in the area next door!
