During this gamescom 2022 (I've written about this a lot in the last few days), I had the presentation of an RPG that could be quite cool if it keeps its promises. Of course, not having put my fingers on the keyboard to test it, I could only see what the developers were kind enough to show us at the Twin Sails Interactive stand (formerly Asmodée). Developed by Event Horizon Limited, let's take a closer look at what this game looks like.
Graphics and atmosphere
The soundscape didn't really impress me, as I didn't really hear it! But the graphic atmosphere is carried by a visual really not bad at all, quite neat but which is a little too smooth for my taste. Visible effects where the environment is once again quite clean, nothing to complain about.
History
In a world where magic and technology are in rivalry, you play the role of an adventurer who hunts relics in dungeons and areas that are increasingly dangerous than each other and that require great strength to successfully defeat them. . But what secret will you discover in the cities of the Ancients? And what consequences will your discoveries have on this world?
My opinion: The world itself looks really interesting with a basic pitch that is admittedly a little conventional, but which should be fleshed out in twists during your games. I just hope the decisions (see below) have a real impact on the storyline and not just be a few different dialogues.
Gameplay
You can create your two characters who will have dedicated styles depending on the equipment you find for them, but above all that you can control at any time during your game. Each character will be able to have one of the four classes which will have four subclass branches, enough to play several games and have fun with nice combos and personal synergies, with your characters and their respective well-stocked talent trees.
Your goal will be to conquer dungeons and solve puzzles with big rewards. For this, you will often have to fight with a cover and real-time combat system. However, if you wish, like a Pillar of Eternity, you can activate a slow mode, or even stop time to prepare your actions.
From what I understand there will be a crafting and enchanting system that will help you create your gear. Although I don't have more details on the why and how, it seems that there will be several endings to this game, which will of course depend on your decisions and your actions during your wanderings in dungeons trapped to the marrow.
Summary
This game seems quite nice to me on many aspects, but again, the fact of not having played it contributes to my mistrust of the final product. I will give you a complete overview when we receive an invitation to test it on our machines with our dragon paws in order to give you the most explicit opinion possible. But the mechanics, the multiple endings and the many classes should have their effect. We'll see when it's scheduled for release in 2023!
