The aliens who wish us harm... a great classic of cinema or video games of recent years, and whatever one may say, a subject that opens the way to many ideas and possibilities for creating original works . Today I'm going to introduce you to From Space, a game about naughty aliens who are really badass. Are you ready for a new battle for the survival of humanity? I do !
History
A meteorite that has fallen to earth with valuable crystal resources has attracted aliens who covet them. And for good measure... these Aliens are trying to eradicate humanity by destroying absolutely everything in their path. So yes, some of them look like chewing gum... but they are not soft. You are the only hope of humanity as a specialist, and you will have to get them off your planet willy-nilly.
Graphics and atmosphere
The game features a light enough style in a sense to cover up the looming alien massacres. The effects are nice and stick to the atmosphere, but are a bit cluttered at times, especially when they bite into the readability of the action. For the rest, we have a clean and classic sound environment, quite generic I should say, but it does the job.
Gameplay
Behind its cute graphics, the game is not as simple as it seems. We start slowly with the basic weapon which will give you what to do the work on the first aliens, but quickly you will find other weapons which will go from the grenade launcher to the plasma launcher through the shotgun or the uzi . Many models will exist in addition to these, as well as multiple tools that will be there to help you: barbed wire, grenades, laser fences, turrets, etc... up to the level where you will have your specialist weapon . Personally I chose the arsonist who roasts his enemies, but other roles exist.
Some perks will let you customize your experience, like ammo and magazines that explode when you reload. More handicapping on a revolver with the multiple explosions, we can obtain more interesting advantages over time. Just like the weapons that can be improved against orbs, or even definitive advantages to buy from merchants. It will still ask you for orbs that drop when aliens die, along with plenty of ammo.
During your exploration to fulfill your objectives, you will come across many enemies who will block your way, to the final boss of the area. You will therefore have to carry out quests that will take you through the districts of the game. The boss is often very powerful, but can be weakened by your actions on the map, whether by destroying nests, defeating behemoths or even helping people who will offer you quests as diverse as fetching toilet paper or taking over an area. All this will allow you to lower the alien presence and therefore weaken the boss.
The little extra is that you can play multiplayer with up to two more friends to defeat the invaders. Quite practical, many call accesses will allow you to invite them and play together for more fun. However, I'm quite afraid of the repetitive side of the game which may be boring over long sessions of the game, despite the different types of enemies. Although the waves of enemies that come non-stop at times are really huge... the fairly simple patterns make it easy to dodge everything and do the whole thing in melee (yes, I tried without worry).
Summary
From Space is a nice but far from revolutionary game that will find its audience during games with friends to have fun together. In solo, as I said before, the repetitive aspect risks being disabling and more basic in the background. The fairly classic scenario and the technique are still well made and are good points for the game. If you have friends who want to play with you, I highly recommend it!
