The Destiny 2 announcement stream took place last Thursday, giving Bungie studio the opportunity to reveal some information about its next title.
The history
Ghaul, leader of the Red Legion, launched an attack on the Tower, the rallying point of all the guardians, in order to take control of the Traveler. Jealous for a long time not to have been chosen by the Traveler to receive his gift, he takes revenge by depriving the guardians of their light, thus leaving them powerless and weakened. With the vanguard divided, each mentor moves forward on their own, and it will be your job to find and help them.
Destiny 2's campaign will bring a rich storyline with many more cutscenes than in the first game. Note that for the first time in the series, Avant-Garde mentors will be present in fights with players and will act as allies during certain phases of the game.
An open and rich world
In Destiny 2, you will now be able to launch any activity without returning to orbit. The exploration activities that we already knew will be back, enriched with a few new features. So treasure maps, lost sectors, quests and new NPCs accompanied by "Adventures" missions will be there to enrich our patrolling game experience.
The game will also have a map once in play allowing players to find and mark different missions, treasures and other activities. Public events will also be indicated with the remaining duration of it.
New worlds to discover
Let's stay in the theme of exploration with the announcement of four different and new worlds to discover. Here is also the map showing these worlds which are:
The European dead zone - The most imposing destination ever created featuring a lush forest, an abandoned town, an underground cave system, and a Red Legion military base to explore and conquer.
Titan - One of the moons of Saturn where Commander Zavala isolated himself after the attack on the Tower. There is no land on Titan. However, players will be able to explore a series of platforms dating back to the Golden Age and surrounded by the ocean.
Nessus - A strange and unstable planet entirely consumed by the Vex where players can find Cayde-6, who is taken by his own adventures in a sumptuous environment.
Io - A moon of Jupiter, where Ikora Rey has gone in search of an answer. Io is the last planet touched by the Traveler during the Golden Age, however the moon is now invaded by enemies.
New weapons and doctrines
In Destiny 2 we will be able to say goodbye to primary, secondary and heavy weapons, weapons will now be sorted by type: Kinetic, energetic and power. The power class includes new weapons such as grenade launchers, snipers and fusion rifles.
Energy weapons will do more damage in PvP to people using their Super. Kinetic weapons will do more damage to enemies without shields in PvE.
In addition to this new system, new doctrines will also be entering the game. The Arcanist will be equipped with a new solar doctrine titled "Dawnblade"allowing it to float through the air with a flaming sword, allowing it to deal devastating melee damage as well as send waves of energy at enemies.
The Titan's super owns the super "Sentinel"allowing him to summon an Abyssal Shield that can protect him. The shield can also be thrown at surrounding enemies.
Finally, the Hunter has the ability "Arcstrider"allowing him to summon a cryo-electric spear with which he moves with agility and causes significant melee damage.
Note that an ability in addition to grenades and melee attacks will now be available for each character. The Doctrine talent trees have also been reworked.
A new clan system
Since the beginning of Destiny, clans have not been of much use. With the arrival of the second opus of the title, this will change drastically. Destiny 2's clan system will allow you to search and find clans directly in-game, it will also allow members of a clan to do earn rewards to this one by carrying out Raids, Assaults, and this even if the other members of the clan are not present. The clans will also have a big impact on the matchmaking of the game thanks to the guided games.
All of this guided parts will allow players to temporarily join a clan to complete a squad for an activity such as: Raids, Black Nights or the Judgment of Osiris. The clans will therefore be the basis of the community, allowing all players access to the high-level content of the game.
So here are the main information that we could take away from this first presentation of Destiny 2.
