Deer Journey, edited and developed by Pablo Picazo, was released on July 21, 2022. A simulation game, it will put you in the shoes of a young fawn. I think you're starting to know my love for simulation games. Being a country child, I couldn't miss this game. Does it manage to convince me and make me a real deer? The game puts me, as I said before, in the shoes of a young fawn. I just woke up and immediately went for a walk. The game is graphically correct. Let's say it's in line with other simulation games. But for this one, I wish it had been a bit neater. Because I also look for beautiful landscapes. So I start to walk in the forest. I take a path that I think will take me on the rest of the story. But, I decide to go around by not following this path. And surprised! I quickly come across an invisible wall. Even if it is justified by cliffs I expected a little more freedom...
I am therefore forced to follow the path. I arrive on a plain where there are deer. I approach and there, second surprise, I get attacked and I die.. I can't defend myself. I gallop to escape the attackers. I arrive in a cave and fall asleep again. The second day is identical to the first except that there a tutorial tells me that I can attack. It would have been nice to be able to do it before!
I walk ... finally I follow the path. Because the game is very empty. I must have come across two birds since I started playing 30 minutes ago. And since I was attacked, I've been alone. I keep moving forward and there I find myself teleported into a dream. I see an event that happened long ago. I won't tell you more, because I don't want to spoil you. After this dream, one last trip and I arrive at the end of the game. It took me about 45 minutes.
Conclusion
What do you think of this game? Except that it's disappointing... I expected a lot of things. Especially to be able to wander in the forest and rest there. But it's quite the opposite. We hope to find something but nothing... It's a shame because the game could be really good, even without a story. We could just walk around. I invite you to do so... if you really want to discover the story. But for the simulation, go your way. Ah yes, I didn't say it, but you can eat berries. But I still don't know what it's for...
