Autobahn Police Simulator 3 is a game published by Aerosoft and developed by Z-Software. It was released on June 23, 2022. And it is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5. As the name suggests, we step into the shoes of a highway cop, and that for the third time ! I saw this game several times on Twitch and it intrigued me on different points. So I didn't hesitate long before jumping on it. Did I get caught up in laying down the law on the highway? To begin with, as in any simulation game, you have the possibility of creating your character. And as also in this type of game, the character generator is not the most advanced. You will only be able to change a few details. But hey, are we looking for this specificity in this type of game? For my part no. So here I am on my way to start my adventure. And there, I discover that there is a story. I just got back from sick leave, because I had a car accident while chasing a car on the highway. Of course, we want to find its driver.
So the tutorial begins: we get in the car and head towards the highway. And first problem! The game is not smooth. I specify that I am playing on a shadow PC, and even with the game at its lowest performance, there are distinct slowdowns at times. Knowing also that the game is not exceptional graphically. We are on a simulation game, so this is not what is wanted, despite all that spoils a good part of the experience. So I continue the tutorial with these slowdowns. I have to make a first arrest. For that, I already have to stop the car, two methods: I ask it to stop and it's done. Or I have to position myself in front and wait for her to stop. Then, I have to check the papers, the vehicle and the state of the person (alcohol, drugs). Then, it will be up to me to judge whether or not I let the person go ... and there I can make mistakes.
At the end of each mission, you gain experience and you will rise in rank. You will be able to unlock new abilities as well as new vehicles. For example, you can get an SUV, or even a helicopter. After finishing the tutorial, you can either carry out the missions that are offered to you, or simply walk around and wait for you to be called by the central. I decide to take the second option. Here I am again on the highway. I discover that there are observation points with photos to take. Or places where you will have to pick things up. For example a triangle.
I drive quietly and I hear on the radio that there is an accident. I accept the intervention and off I go at full speed to reach the place. Suddenly, my car is thrown into the air and I reappear on the road. I didn't hit anything. I ignore it and arrive at the scene of the accident. The place must be secured with studs. Take photos of the accident and interview witnesses. I really liked this part.
Conclusion
What do you think of this game? My experience is mixed. On the one hand, I really had fun carrying out the interventions and driving around on the highway. But the slowdowns and collision bugs while there is nothing took me out of the game a bit. Also the fact that you can crash into any car, and into barricades without any problems. So, yes, it's a good simulation game, but it needs a few patches to make the experience perfect. I recommend it only if you like simulation games.
