Today, we will learn how to install an add-on on WildStar! It's not rocket science, there are no pitfalls, and I'll show you how to do it in any way possible:
- Focus on add-ons
- Install an add-on automatically
- Install an add-on manually
- Demonstrative video
- Examples
Focus on add-ons
First of all, I'll just explain to you what an add-on is, if you've never heard of it. An add-on is simply a small feature added to the game that will allow you to modify or add certain features.
In short, you have add-ons that will make your life easier by adding functionality for stuff that can take a long time (like picking up all your mail automatically instead of one by one), there are others for example that allow to change the interface, so all that is action bars.
There aren't many for WildStar yet as the game is only in beta, but I can assure you that when the game comes out there will be thousands, if not billions!
Install an add-on automatically
Most of the add-ons can be found on the Curse site, also known for World of Warcraft add-ons. The site notably offers a very practical client that will allow you to automatically install your add-ons. The client downloads here.
Once the client is installed, if you have WildStar installed, it will automatically detect it and you just have to go to the "Get More Addons" tab to have access to the complete list of add-ons and choose what you want. 'you need. Once installed, they will then be available directly in the game.
I advise you to read the description of the add-ons to check if something needs to be done to configure them, via an in-game command or other.
Install an add-on manually
This method is a little more complicated, which is why I invite you to do the previous one instead. Here ! End of this explanation!
No, and more seriously, you may have lists of add-ons on various trusted sites, such as the list of add-ons at Curse here. On these pages, you can choose the add-on that interests you and, by going to its detailed sheet, you can download the files. Never download or install files from an unrecognized source! Once the download is complete, if the source is compressed, it will have to be extracted, and the file (s) obtained will have to be moved to this folder:
C: UsersYour_UserAppDataRoamingNCSOFTWildStaraddons
And it's over, it's installed!
I specify that the "AppData" file is a hidden file, so if you don't see it, you will have to display them:
- On Windows 8: at the top, "Display" tab, check "Hidden elements".
- On Windows 7 and lower: near the previous / next arrows, you should have access to a menu, you will have to go to display properties and look for hidden files.

Examples
There aren't that many add-ons yet, but here are a few that may be useful:
- WhisperSound
Add-on that will allow you to receive a small sound (which you can choose from a list of sounds) when you receive a private message in-game.
- ProtoMail
Allows you to collect all (or those selected) items and currency from your mailbox.
- PotatoUI
First real interface customization add-on, which will allow you to modify various elements of the interface.
These are examples, there will be dozens of them after the game is released. We will not fail to make you discoveries of add-ons that we deem essential!
