The Detail - Season 1 ends with Episode 3

The Detail - Season 1 ends with Episode 3

In April, I presented the The Detail episodes 1 and 2, a criminal investigation presented in the form of a point-and-click / graphic novel. It was time to go discover episode 3!

This episode is faithful to the first two, we continue our investigation in the company of the same protagonists, on the trail of a dark traffic in prostitution and corruption. We play here mainly two of the characters: Katelyn and Reggie. The hopeful young investigator and the disillusioned old detective. Joe, the informant who found himself mixed up against his will in the story, is unfortunately little reused.

After a summary of the previous episodes, it all begins on a crime scene, a young prostitute, a priori, thrown in a dumpster.

The same mechanisms are reused. It all starts with the analysis of the crime scene, then choices have to be made on how to handle the discussion with the witnesses. Should we try to impress them or on the contrary sympathize? Should we help them or threaten them? The discussion choices will have an influence on the information delivered. At the end of the investigation, our character has a discussion during which we have to choose between several choices about our conclusions. It is better to have read everything and understood well so as not to fall completely beside it!

Between these phases of reflection / investigation, you have to walk around the scene to find the elements that will move the story forward. No mini-puzzles here, just a code to find at a time to unlock an elevator. Nothing too difficult though, just some dialogue and some good observation. It's clearly missing a bit as it's still nice in this style of play.

Overall, even if the graphics and the sound environment remain of quality, this episode gives a little the impression of having been done (too) quickly to close the case. The original lacks the originality and more often than not I had the impression that I did not have much control over events. The end left me a bit unsatisfied. Many of my questions remain unanswered ... Is a Season 2 in the works?

In any case, for this episode 3, it's short, too short. Allow two hours maximum reading all the dialogues (in English I remind you).

My choices

The Detail - Season 1 ends with Episode 3

The Detail clearly had a lot of potential that could have been better exploited. Without being exceptional, it is nonetheless a good story, well presented and at the moment at a very low price. Count only 5,97 € for the 3 episodes!
