No70: Eye of Basir is an adventure / horror game that can be experienced in virtual reality. It tells the story of Erhan and Aras, two brothers who were raised by their grandmother in a strange house where the paranormal is common. When their grandmother died, they decided to leave home and we lived normally for 20 years, both successful in their careers, Erhan as an archaeologist and Aras as creative director, both recognized. and renowned in their circles.
Until the day when Erhan disappears ... Aras will then go in search of him.
When I launch the game, I have a rather annoying surprise: the interface is ... in Turkish and I do not speak Turkish! With the help of Google Translate, I learn that Diller means “Languages” and I manage to put my game in spanish. Phew. Is this a first hidden puzzle of the title?
Finally, anyway, I can now enjoy the interface and character biographies by understanding what I'm reading.
The story is organized into three chapters ... so I start with the first one. Logic, when you hold us! I find myself in a creepy house at night, with my torch as the only light.
The atmosphere is creepy as can be, offering no clue on what to do. I observe my surroundings, find information about the history of characters and places, unlocking new places as and when objects I discover. The interface is very limited, the character moves with the classic arrow keys and everything is then done with the mouse. When a useful item is recovered from the inventory, it will automatically be used if the situation lends itself to it. In addition to the useful objects, codex elements are dispatched all over the place, the only elements to understand the story what is going on here.
Without revealing too much to you, this house is clearly not normal and supernatural manifestations are common, especially since the death of its inhabitant, our grandmother. The walls change, objects appear, creatures taunt me ...
A little further into the game, recovering the Eye of Basir changes the way I view puzzles, giving me a glimpse into another reality where nothing is like here. With a right click, I brandish the artifact and dive into a new level of horror.
Before / After in two different places:
Other places can be visited during the adventure, allowing you to get out of the claustrophobic environment of the first home.
It is difficult to talk to you about this title in more detail without revealing details about the story, which is the essential point of the game. It would be a shame to spoil the surprise of this investigation at the frontiers of reality. After, if you really want to, here is the entire game made on video with my comments.
- Chapter 1
- Chapter 2
- Chapter 3
No70: Eye of Basir offers a well-conducted supernatural story, with enough mystery to keep you going during the discovery of the different elements through very murky settings. However, some concerns should be noted such as invisible walls or important objects that only appear after having done certain actions. I also had the case of cutscenes not triggering, leaving me with nothing to do. But those are just the details that didn't mar the story which is still a great vintage if you're not afraid of ghosts popping off your screen. The game is available on Steam and is compatible with the HTC Vive virtual reality headset.
