Last night there was a live with Colette Murphy (Community Manager) and Terry Michaels (Senior Producer). EQHammer did a summary, you will find the translation just after the video.
Roadmap
- You will find the translation of the roadmap on our site.
- It brings together all the things the team is currently working on.
- It is a way to open the discussion between the team and the players.
- There has been a lot of feedback from the community. The team is getting their feedback and taking the feedback into account.
- The item that has received a lot of feedback (both pro and con) is instant travel. Terry explained that the team is listening. They feel that the ability to come back to one's claim or to be able to travel to meet friends is important but should be offered in a limited way.
- Some form of instant travel may come into play as a temporary fix until the ley line system is in place.
- When new features are nearing completion, the team will post more information about it.
Sprayer
- It is a tool that will allow players to quickly dig an area without collecting resources.
- The team asked for feedback from the community on three concept images.
- An overwhelming majority prefers the second concept with the base of 3.
- The team was impressed to see players creating their own sprayer concepts (like bensuni on our forums!).
Q & A
- The ability to lock the shortcut bar arrives.
- Players cannot have more than one character at this time. There is no reason to create additional characters other than for appearance. In the future, SOE may implement a way to change the appearance of his character, but that is not yet certain.
- There will be a fix for some texture issues very soon (all textures appear black).
- It's complicated to apply gravity and physics to voxels. The team is exploring a few ideas, but have yet to decide if that made sense. Maybe it will be implemented on a limited basis.
- The team is working on a permissions system right now where you can give others permission to build on your claim. When the guilds arrive, it will be possible to give permission to your entire guild. It happens as quickly as possible!
- Additional tools are planned, but in the long term. In the short term, the team is trying to improve current tools to facilitate the way they interact and their learning.
- People wouldn't want to have the template attached to the cursor in order to make it easier to move. The team is working on it.
- The limit for saving templates is based on voxels. Terry doesn't remember the exact number. It is possible to register many small templates and less large ones. When you select a template, it is possible to see the number of voxels. The team will publish the limits. Currently, this limit is rather aggressive.
- A template is automatically created when you delete your claim. Adding an option to ask the player to choose whether or not they want to save a template when deleting is a good idea.
- There will be a reset between alpha and the start of Closed Beta. On this occasion, the new biomes will be introduced. There will no longer be islands with thirds, but the resources will be specific to certain biomes.
- The patterns will persist between alpha and closed beta. All progress will be deleted but the models will remain.
- There is already a compass on the map but of little use. The team intends to put a compass on the UI (with an option to enable or disable).
Update: February 20
An update is scheduled for today at 14pm PST (23pm with us). This will be a small update as the team took a 4 day break this weekend. In particular, there will be some fixes for the camera.
Social characteristics
The team believes that social characteristics should be a priority for Landmark. In EQN and EQNL you don't have to regret seeing someone else in the world, it has to be a positive experience. We must give a reason to work together and not see others as players.
Some players are already helping others, including creating claims with all machines and a large sign to say "Craft Here". Another player has created a maze with crafting stations at the end for players who manage to get out of it.
Demo
Troy Mishler (Environment Artist) demonstrated, explaining how to build a curved roof using the Line tool. He indicated that the line tool works best with small voxel sizes. Colette has asked fans to post on the forums any tips they'd like to see explained in future direct.
On your end, if you have any tutorials, feel free to submit them to soe.com/player-direct.
Community
During the event, a player named Voidlust threw a party in his claim, on the Serenity server, Pingo zone. Its claim lies to the northeast and is called Last Wish Pub Voidlust. Lots of players went there and Dave Georgeson indicated that there were over 700 players in line to get to Pingo. Terry himself joined the party with his character named Fairan.
SOE would like to be informed of future community events so that they can help promote them.
Show your constructions
For future direct, the team is looking for the following constructions:
- Viking ship
- Roller coaster
- Catapult
- Ballooning
- Train
- Dragon
- Statues
- Architectural buildings
- Small house / chalet
- Living rooms with large windows and a view of the world
Do not hesitate to share here also your most beautiful creations to illustrate future articles with your buildings?
