Do you dream of a life of adventures, beers and songs? So do not be afraid, put down your wallet and come and venture into Guild of Dungeoneering because, thanks to it, you will be able to satisfy all these desires, well almost all of them.
Your goal? Build a prestigious adventurer guild that will bring you wealth and fame. To do this, you have at your disposal a simple adventurer, young and full of hope, who sets off on an adventure in dark dungeons in order to seek the fame so hoped for. Well, that's what he believes ...
Your guild, initially made up of a simple room, grows over successes and adventures, the money earned allowing you to build new rooms. You can place these new pieces wherever you want, which brings you various advantages such as new adventurers or new spells or equipment represented in the form of playing cards that can be used in the dungeons.
The originality of the game here comes from the fact that you don't actually control your adventurer but rather his environment. As the absolute and undisputed master of your guild, you have a deck of cards that allows you to build dungeons for you to explore. So it's up to you to place the different rooms of this evil lair wisely, but also to place the rewards there. Your adventurer, still fresh and neophyte, automatically heads towards the new cards placed. The goal is therefore to place all this intelligently in order to be able to develop the adventurer and lead the guild to victory.
But be careful, because like any self-respecting dungeon, you have to defeat many monsters. On the menu, a whole very complete bestiary from the world of role-playing games. From the inevitable rat to ghosts and gelatinous masses of all kinds, you also find orcs, trolls and various other beasts ready to kill you.
The fights take place through a card system. Each turn, three cards are drawn and you must choose the best option available to you to defeat your enemy. The choices will not always be obvious: although easy to access, the system is intended to be rich and very complete. As your adventure progresses, you have the opportunity to add new cards to your battle deck, making you more powerful.
In the end, we quickly see that the adventurer here is only a simple tool of your creation. Moreover, if this one dies, know that it is directly replaced by another. In addition, each time your adventurer comes back to your dungeon, he is like reset and returns to level one, without any basic material, showing well the "object" side of the adventurer.
But that's not the most important thing for you because, as we talked about previously, what really matters is to evolve your guild by creating new rooms that bring you new characters and bonuses.
All is not brilliant and wonderful ... Like the gold coin in a hallway hiding a dreadful trap, dungeons and evolution are not easy. Indeed, during your explorations, some of your cards to draw to develop the dungeons contain monsters. A real tough choice follows and it is up to you to intelligently dose the monsters to pose in order to be able to level up your hero, without him being overwhelmed by monsters.
The only downside is that you sometimes feel a little limited by the choice of cards when building dungeons, especially at the start of the game. But, once the mechanics are well mastered, it becomes easier to get the hero to go where we want. Also, be aware that each hero you recruit has their own set of cards for combat. The latter, from the world of paper role-playing games, all have funny little phrases or titles that remind regulars of the genre of their many role-playing games.
Original and well thought out, the title is catchy because it skilfully mixes management and adventure, while sprinkling the whole thing with a fresh humorous touch. The graphics, designed to make it look like a role-playing game on paper, is very successful and fits perfectly with the atmosphere, as well as the concept of building your guild and dungeons. Also know that the music will not be outdone with some funny little texts and music taken from the best soundtracks of medieval festivals.
Guild of Dungeoneering is ultimately a fun and catchy title, which is likely to delight many players who are adept at role-playing games and looking for a new, fun and refreshing experience. A very beautiful little nugget that awakened the adventurer who lies dormant in you.
