Breach & Clear: Deadline is a strategy and action game developed by Mighty Rabbit Studios and Gun Media.
Zombie story
The story of the game takes place in the town of Harbor City. After a quick tutorial on the different possible actions and giving the main storyline of the game, you find yourself with a squad of 4 soldiers to join your evacuation point.
In your adventure, you will meet different NPCs who, classically, will give you tasks to perform (main or secondary frame). These tasks can range from rescue to delivery of equipment. In addition, like any post-apocalyptic story, we will find a rather tough enemy: the mercenaries / looters. Fairly well equipped and well protected, these are the enemies that you do not want to meet on your way.
Since each mission you will have to return to headquarters, quick points are available to quickly travel on the map. This avoids having to walk for a long time and meeting unwanted people.
RPG et Gameplay
As said before, Breach & Clear: Deadline is a game mixing the archetypes of the strategy game (real time and tactical pause) and the RPG.
The strategic face arches on two points: the tactical pause and real time. Regarding the first point, you can give different orders to each of your characters (movement, special abilities, ...). Real time will however allow you to take control of one of the characters in your squad and to be able to use these skills directly.
Each character in your squad is fully customizable, whether it's their outfit, their appearance or their name. Yes the Jean-Kevin squad is an elite squad of the American army!
In addition to this aspect of squad customization, each character has a specific class (Medic, Scout, ...). Each therefore has a specific talent tree which can increase some of its characteristics (endurance, precision, ...) or even new active skills.
You should also know that all the weapons that we recover, whether in a crate, a quest reward or on an enemy, can be improved / repaired thanks to our workshop in our HQ. The currency for this type of operation is "the material" which is also used to make your ammunition.
Modes and minor issues
Other than the campaign, we also have two other game modes in Breach & Clear: Deadline:
- Challenge mode
- Co-op Mode
The first allows you to play time-limited scenarios where any action will modify your final score. It will be necessary to juggle between speed and precision to reach big scores! The second mode will allow him to play with a friend to exterminate your enemies. This mode is very well done and, by increasing the difficulty of the game, it can become really very nice!
As in all video games, there are some things that you can regret if you are a fan of games with a tactical break. First of all, the camera is too limited. Certainly, we can perform 360s but we cannot for example play on the zoom / dezoom as we would like. In addition, in real-time view, the camera is far too close to the character to be able to shoot well from a distance.
Although we are not here for the graphics, but more for the story or the gameplay, we can still note that the graphics leg is not very young for a game released this year. It is true that for a studio of this size one does not expect a game of AAA quality either.
Conclusion
Besides the few flaws mentioned above, Breach & Clear Deadline is an overall good game with a very good part relating to customizing and managing your squad. For about twenty euros (July 15 until July 27) it's a good game where you can spend a few pleasant hours of entertainment!
